Summary:
This tour is designed to give our Guests the best of both worlds; a brief yet thorough and engaging private tour of Rome and a private transfer to the airport or their hotel following the end of their cruise at the port of Civitavecchia. After meeting your experienced and friendly English speaking driver - guide at the port, you will embark on a 2.5 hour tour or a 5 hour tour of Rome. At the completion of your tour, your driver - guide will drive you to the airport or hotel. This tour is recommended for Guests staying in Rome after their cruise or Guests who are departing on a flight from Rome's Fiumicino after 4:00 PM.  
                                                                                      Overview:
Waiting on your ship's pier at the time of your preference will be your professional, English speaking, driver - guide. Holding a sign with your group's name, your driver - guide will escort you to your private, clean, late - model, waiting vehicle. Your driver - guide will load your luggage into the vehicle. Sit back and relax in the comfort of your private vehicle as you travel the 90 minutes through the Etruscan Countryside enroute to the heart of Rome.

Your tour of Rome begins with a panaramic view of the city before arriving at Saint Peter's Basilica, the Vatican, and Sistine Chapel. Take a moment to stand in Saint Peter's Square and realize you have entered the smallest country in the world, Vatican. Your driver - guide will then drive you along the Tiber to see such monuments and historical sites as the Castle of Angels, the Bridge of Angels, and the Palace of Justice. Pause to admire Capital Hill and the grand staircase designed by Michelangelo that ascends the most important of the seven hills of Rome. Continue to learn Rome's history as you view Piazza Venezia including Mussolini's balcony as well as the "wedding cake" monument dedicated to Victor Emanuelle II, the first king of Italy after its unification.

Renaissance Rome comes before you as you pass the Emperor Trajan and arrive at the Roman Forum and Colosseum. It is here gladiators, Christians, and beasts fought to their death in front of 50,000 spectators. The Colosseum was built between 72 AD and 80 AD and unfortunately suffered its architectural damage as a result of Barbarians and two major earthquakes. 

Enroute to the beautiful Spanish Steps, you will see historical landmarks and monuments including Triumphal Arc of the Emperor Constantine, Palatine Hill, Circus Maximus, the Pagan Temples of Hercules and Portus, and the Theater of Marcellus. Continue on your tour as you marvel at the open air Pantheon and conclude with making a wish as you toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain.   

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, including your brief but thorough exploration of Rome. Our driver - guides have extensive knowledge and expertise of the history, customs, and culture of Rome in addition to the layout of the streets. Unlike the restrictions for large coach buses, your driver - guide will do his or her best to drive you in your private vehicle to as close to the site as allowed by law. Additionally, if you have any specific requests or you would prefer to focus your tour on a specific area of Rome, your driver - guide will do his or her best to accomodate your needs.

The tour can be customized to your preference. The order of the tour may be modified to maximize your time and enjoyment. While we will make every attempt to include all parts of the tour as listed above, there is the slight possibility that for reasons beyond our control,  an aspect of the tour will need to be skipped, replaced, or modified. While we suggest wearing comfortable walking shoes and clothing, please respect local customs of covering shoulders and knees when visiting a religious site. A strict dress code is enforced and shorts or revealing clothing is not permitted in the Vatican including Saint Peter's Basilica. The Vatican Museum is closed on Saturday afternoons and all day Sunday and all religious sites, including Saint Peter's Basilica may close at random times to host events. To maximize your experience and enjoyment, we strongly suggest and we will be happy to do so at no extra charge, acquiring tickets with specific entrance times to the Vatican and Colosseum. For your protection and convenience, payment must be made through credit card on The Guest Planners secure payment processing system. We will be happy to accept multiple credit cards for your group. During the tour, please watch your valuables. If you are departing from Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO), we will only be able to accomodate Guests whose flights depart after 4:00 PM.  Our extremely competitive pricing is below. An English speaking friendly driver - guide will be waiting for you as you exit your cruise ship at the time of your preference. Your driver - guide will be with you throughout the half day tour, safely driving you throughout Rome in a late model, clean and comfortable vehicle. Cancelation Policy and Terms and Conditions: If your cruise ship misses the port of call for any reason, you will receive a full refund. However, if you need to cancel, The Guest Planners policy is as follows:
14 days or more prior to your tour - No Penalty
8 to 13 days prior to your tour - 25% Penalty
4 to 7 days prior to your tour - 50% Penalty
3 or fewer days prior to your tour - 100% Penalty
